The Corner Society Welcomes Producer Dominic Barber (a.k.a. MrDMBeats)

MrDMBeats is a 21-year-old producer from the UK. He fell in love with Hip-Hop after hearing Lupe Fiasco’s debut Food & Liquor. As a producer, he’s always loved using epic sounds to make a beat. He’s been drawn specifically to movie scores and is currently working on a tape on which he samples music from the film Gladiator.

His last major project was called Fellowship of the Bling. It came to fruition after his friend challenged him to flip a track off the “Lord of the Rings” soundtrack. It can be downloaded in its entirety on his DatPiff page.

The Corner Society Welcomes Producers Alcohol&Ecstasy

Alcohol&Ecstasy is a production group from London. Revolving around samples and orchestral instrumentation, their most notable work has been a track called Krystal, which has garnered over 2,000 plays and 100 downloads. With a signature, cinematic element to their songs, they’ve been picked up by Dominic Serendip (a snippet of their collaboration can be heard here).

Download their complete discography on their Bandcamp

Alcohol&Ecstasy is slated to feature on The Corner Society’s first collaborative effort, Gorgeous.

The Corner Society Welcomes Rapper/Actor/Poet Dominic Serendip

As an actor, Dominic Serendip has been on several off-Broadway productions. However, his main squeeze has always been music. His upcoming Hip-Hop album is entitled Live Lucid.

When interviewed by us, he described it a lifestyle, rather than an album. In making the record, he wanted to relate to his listener by getting past his own faults. He believes in inspiring his fans to reject limitations set by others and control their own faiths.

The Corner Society has snagged his talents (and that of his recent collaborator, Alcohol&Ecstasy) for our first collaborative effort, Gorgeous

You can download Serendip’s tunes on his Bandcamp

The Corner Society Welcomes Producer Zachary Taylor (a.k.a. 5th Element)

5th Element has been making beats since March 2008. He was first inspired by Kanye West’s Graduation, and the lush production behind it. But it wasn’t until late 2009 that he found his particular sound: Sample-heavy instrumentals. Utilizing the style, he has released two solo albums and countless beat tapes. Junk, his first major record, took on the challenge of sampling 100+ songs into a 45 minute funk-soul-psychedelic-folk-fusion. Afterwards, interested in the theme of space, he released two tapes constructed around the idea of the universe.

Space features a more unified sound that shows the beauty of the cosmos, whilst its recently released sequel, Space: Part 2, features a darker sound and chronicles the destruction of Earth and human civilization’s effort to survive out in the barren void.

In his four years of making music, 5th Element has also learned to play drums, bass, and is currently learning to play piano.

His major influences include: DJ Shadow, J. Dilla, The Avalanches, Flying Lotus, and Organized Noize.

You can download all of his music on his Bandcamp and “like” him on Facebook.

The addition of 5th Element to The Corner Society team marks the beginning of an expansion of the site into a full-fledged movement, rather than just another run-of-the-mill webzine. As the first musician signed to us, he’s pledged to release all future tapes under our trademark, as well as be the main contributor to Mariusz Zubrowski’s cinematic endeavors.

He is currently in talks to score the short film adaptation of “Momma’s Boyfriend.”
